Our Story
Originally from Highland, Kansas, Vern Lewis made his way to Arizona in 1969 to work as the State District Manager for Forney Industries selling rod and equipment out of his station wagon. Then in 1975, Vern decided it was time to become his own boss and opened the first βVern Lewis Welding Supplyβ in Avondale. Which is the very same Avondale store that is still operating today.
It wasnβt long after that, where there was a demand for oxygen and acetylene. So Vern swapped his station wagon for a Ford pick-up to deliver cylinders out of it, which ultimately got him into the welding gas business. By 1983, he had opened his second location in Phoenix to be more central to his customers and had employees working for him.
Then it was in the 2000s that the expansion of Vern Lewis Welding Supply really began. From opening more locations in the valley to locations up North, Vern Lewis became a widely recognized name in the Arizona welding industry. Weβve grown leaps and bounds since opening that first small store in Avondale. In addition to our 7 retail locations, we now have a bulk gas fill plant, hydro test facility, welding training lab, repair center, and a centralized warehouse.
If youβre ever in need of welding supplies, youβll be hearing the name Vern Lewis for a very long time.
